How to Access your Microsoft 365 (First Time Sign-In)

After your chaffey.edu email has been created by Admin Systems and provided to you by your supervisor, you will be able to use it as your username for your Staff Portal, Outlook Email, and District log in.

Below is how to set up and sign into your Microsoft 365 Account for your Outlook email on Browser for the first time. 

Issue

**Note: Please ensure that you have set up your Staff Portal account before logging into your Outlook, as your password for your Staff Portal will be used for your Outlook email. 

Sign into your Office 365 email via web browser (after password has been reset on your Staff Portal): https://outlook.office.com/

1. Sign in with your chaffey.edu email and staff portal password.

2. You will be prompted to set up two methods of 2-step verification. 

    2a. If you have the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can set it up now as one of your 2-step verification methods.

    2b. If you do not have the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can select the option: "Choose a Different Method."

3. If you select "Choose a Different Method," you can add your phone as the 2-step verification option.

4. After setting up your first method of Authentication, you will be prompted to add another method. 

    4a. If you have not set up the Microsoft Authentication app as your first method, you will be prompted to set it for the second method. 
    
    4b. If you do not want to set up the Microsoft Authentication app as your second method, you can "Choose a Different Method" again.
    
5. If you select "Choose a Different Method" again, you will be able to select your email address as the secondary authentication method. 

**Note:  We recommend using a personal email address instead of your Panther or Chaffey Outlook email. This is because the verification code may be locked behind by the Chaffey or Microsoft login, preventing you from using it for authentication.

After these steps, you will be logged into your Microsoft 365.

You will be able to navigate to your available Apps by clicking the waffle menu, shown in the screen shot below.
